In 2025, Guoshun Cable Tray Co., Ltd. completed the supply of FRP (fiberglass) cable trays for a petrochemical plant project with highly corrosive ambient conditions. This case study summarizes how we delivered a corrosion-proof cable support system under strict international requirements.
Project Requirements
- Trough type FRP cable tray with covers, width 600mm and 800mm, length 6m per section
- Material: SMC polyester composite, flame retardant Class I, UV resistant
- Requirement: corrosion resistance against acid, alkali and salt atmospheres
- Compliance: project specifications based on IEC 61537
- Delivery: 4 batches over 5 months to the destination port
Why FRP Was Selected
The plant environment is highly corrosive — steel trays with surface treatment would require frequent maintenance and replacement. FRP trays provide inherent corrosion resistance, electrical insulation and flame retardancy, with an expected service life of 20+ years and near-zero maintenance.
How We Delivered
Our engineering team reviewed the client’s drawings and provided detailed fabrication drawings for approval within 10 days. Production ran on dedicated pultrusion lines with batch-by-batch quality inspection: dimensional checks on every batch, flame retardancy and load testing on first articles, and third-party inspection before mass shipment.
Result
All FRP cable trays were delivered on schedule across 4 shipments with zero quality claims. The client has since ordered additional covers and accessories for a second phase of the project.
